Different Types of Keno Games
Keno is a type of lottery that claims its roots in China where it was used to finance the military and various government projects including the Great Wall. Today keno is played in casinos worldwide. It has never enjoyed great popularity in the west but it is a game worth checking out if you believe in luck and enjoy playing with numbers.
How do you play keno? It depends on the type of keno game you play. There are different kinds of keno games, or if you prefer, keno tickets. For each type of game or ticket, you pick the numbers you want to bet on in a different way.
Keno Games: Straight Ticket
This is the keno game you should play when you are still learning it. You merely pick as many numbers as you want to wager on (but not going over 20 since that's how many numbers will be drawn) and mark them off. During the keno draw, you will check your ticket for hits and go over to the keno desk to claim your prize if you win something.
Keno Games: Way Ticket
A way ticket is a keno game in which you can play more than one series of numbers. Basically you are playing several keno tickets in one when you use a way ticket. An advantage of a way ticket is that it lets you bet smaller amounts on each set of numbers by splitting the price of the ticket among them. For instance, if you buy a way ticket good for two bets and it's worth $1, you only wager $.50 on each. You can bet on a number more than once if you like, or you can use a unique number per set. To distinguish them, just draw a loop around each set with your pen.
Keno Games: Combination Ticket
As the name implies, you can combine sets of numbers with a combination ticket. If you have three sets of numbers in a combination ticket, you can combine them in different ways. You can make a set of nine numbers by combining three sets of three numbers, for example.
Note that in these different keno games, you can use a "king" number. A king number is an extra number that you mark off to add it to the sets of numbers you have made.
Keno Games: Top/Bottom, Left/Right, Edges
There are more ways to play keno. Instead of betting on specific numbers, you can wager on regions of the tickets.
With top/bottom cards, you choose either the top 40 numbers or the lower 40 numbers. If you win 13 out of 20 numbers in the keno draw, you win. The same goes for left/right tickets. Edges, on the other hand, refer to tickets where you bet on all the outermost numbers on the square ticket. How many numbers you must hit to win depends on the casino.
And that is all there is to playing keno. Games of this kind are based in luck and numbers. If you love playing with numbers and to run after good fortune, play keno online now!
